Two nuns of Maharshi Mehi Sansash Ashram at Rampur withdrew the gangrape charges against ashram in-charge Swami Agyanand and five others on Tuesday.

However, police believe that the nuns — who happen to be sisters and underwent tests at JLNMC Hospital — had been sexually assaulted on the night of August 26. Following an FIR by the nuns against the six, one Ratan Paswan has been arrested. Superintendent of police K S Anupam said prima facie the incident appeared to be a case of gang rape. “We are waiting for the medical report,” she said.
