Girls registered better results than boys in Intermediate humanities and commerce results even as the boys topped both the streams.
Bihar School Examination Board chairperson Rajmani Singh declared the results on Monday.
In humanities, 15 students figured in the top 10 list. Of them, eight were girls. The number of girls appearing from the humanities stream was higher than the boys this year. Around 2.28 lakh had girls appeared for the examination, of whom 2.10 lakh passed.
Compared to the girls, 1.61 lakh boys had appeared in the humanities stream. About 1.15 lakh boys bagged first division marks compared to 1.83 lakh girls.
Declaring the results, Singh said: “The percentage of girls appearing in the humanities examination and their pass percentage is better than boys.”
The pass percentage in the humanities stream stood at around 90.96, while 38.58 per cent students secured first division marks.
Students of Gaya College ruled the top 10 list. Of the 15 students in the bracket, nine students, including the topper, were from the Gaya institution. Prashant Sinha secured the first position in the state with 82.8 per cent.
This year, around 2.28 lakh girl students had appeared in the humanities and of them 2.10 lakh students were successful. However, in commerce, the number of girl students appearing in the examination is less than boys.
Of 70,000 students, who appeared in the Intermediate commerce examinations, around 55,000 were boys.
In the commerce stream, too, girls stood out for their performance. Sixteen girls out of 19 students figured in the top 10 of Intermediate commerce.
With a pass percentage of 91.91 in the commerce stream, 26.21 per cent students secured the first division. Students of VR College Kiratpur, Vaishali, ruled the results. Thirteen students from the college secured positions in the top 10 list.
The first position in the stream went to Sandeep Kumar Choubey of HSV College Ramgarhwa in East Champaran. He secured 86 per cent. Rita Kumari of VR College Kiratpur, followed the topper with 85.6 per cent.
The results of Intermediate vocational steam were also announced on Monday with a 92.37 pass percentage. While 75.59 per cent students secured first division, 16.46 per cent secured second division.
