Patna, Feb. 26: The All India Police Science Congress, being organised in the state after 52 years, would aim to arm cops with scientific methods to tackle crime.

Papers would be presented by different security force personnel on new-age challenges before the units.

The three-day meet from Wednesday would witness participation of cops from Andhra Pradesh, Nagaland, Maharashtra, Karnataka, Sikkim and others. On Tuesday, director-general of police Abhayanand said: “The Bureau of Police Research and Development, Union home ministry, organises the congress annually in different states to provide a forum for discussions on various aspects of police functions.”

Some of the papers include “Increasing importance of intelligence in police work”, “Ways to improve police investigation within the legal framework” and others.

The official said personnel from the paramilitary force and the home affairs ministry would attend the event.
