Save water, save earth message

Central University of South Bihar's eco club celebrated Earth Day, three days later, on April 25 at the Patna campus. The university held lectures, quizzes and motivational speeches to mark the occasion themed on reducing plastic load.

Central University of South Bihar's eco club celebrated Earth Day, three days later, on April 25 at the Patna campus. The university held lectures, quizzes and motivational speeches to mark the occasion themed on reducing plastic load. Professor in charge of Patna campus, Arun Kumar Sinha inaugurated the programme. Also present were dean, school of earth, biological and environmental sciences, R.S. Rathore, head, centre for environmental sciences, Ram Kumar, head, centre for mass communication and media, Atish Prasar and environmental science faculty members.

Sinha spoke on why it was important to preserve natural resources, especially water. "In future, it might be possible that the third world war would be waged for water," he said.

Dean Rathore spoke on the decreasing forest cover, as he said: "On the basis of the world map in the period of the first world war, 50 to 60 per cent of the world's total land area was covered by forests and now it has been reduced to 33 per cent."

Legal brains

The moot court society that runs under Central University of South Bihar's school of law and governance organised an intra-moot court competition last Thursday.

Total 13 teams took part in the competition,. The final round was adjudged by assistant chief magistrate Sanjay Kumar and senior lawyer Kamlesh Kumar.

Law department faculty Digvijay Singh, who co-ordinated the event, said: "After a tough first round, the team of Gargee, Mansi and Aman won the competition. The team of Vishal, Amar Vivek and Tanay came second.

"Vishal was named the best "mooter" as moot court participants are called. Aman bagged the best researcher award, while the memorial award was lifted by Tanay and team," he added.

In Dinkar's memory

The College of Commerce, Arts and Science organised a talk on the achievements of Hindi poet Ramdhari Singh Dinkar at the college on April 26. Former Tripura governor Siddheshwar Prasad inaugurated the programme.
