Patna, May 26: The RJD today slammed 180 days of the Nitish Kumar government, and like its party boss, gave it a “big zero”.

Speaking to reporters at his chamber in the Assembly, Leader of the Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiqui said people of the state have lost confidence over the present government as Nitish has not been able to live up to his promises.

Siddiqui said: “The performance of the present government in all fields has been pathetic. His regime has been hit by corruption, robbery, docoity, theft, rape and financial irregularities. Take the example of crime rate in state, the government claims that crime rate has decreased but the official figures show that it has increased rapidly. Cases of murder have gone up and instances of loot are far too common. The police do not lodge FIRs even when people go to them to lodge complaints.”

Siddiqui said: “Criminals are commiting crimes at will. Cases of murder in broad daylight near party offices are rampant and the administration is acting like a mute spectator. The level of corruption is on the rise. Nothing can be done without paying bribe to government officials.”

RJD principal general secretary Ram Kripal Yadav also attacked the Nitish government. “There are plenty of evidences to prove the failure of the NDA-II government. The reality of their ministers and MLAs are coming out slowly. Their minister had to resign from the post after being declared an absconder by the court. The real face of Nitish’s government has been exposed. The shocking incident of a JD (U) MLA from Hathuwa Assembly seat, Ram Sevak Singh, beating up innocent youths for casting vote against his relative is a prominent example,” he said.

Yadav questioned Nitish’s claim of sushasan (good governance). “What kind of good governance is he talking about? Poor villagers are being tortured for no reason. We as Opposition demand speedy trial of ministers and MLAs named in court cases. The present government is so shameful in its conduct that it doesn’t even think twice before saying anything. Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi recently said the sacked minister would be re-inducted in the cabinet. What kind of a comment is it?”
