Patna: Irrespective of any decision by the CBI special court in Ranchi on RJD chief Lalu Prasad, the RJD will hold its scheduled meeting on Saturday to discuss its future course of action.
The quantum of punishment on Lalu is likely to be announced on Saturday itself.
It would be a crucial day for the RJD as on one hand, the CBI special court will announce the punishment to Lalu and on the other hand, the meeting on the future of RJD will be underway.
Senior leaders who were present in Patna on Friday were called to Lalu and Rabri Devi's 10, Circular Road residence in the morning to discuss the agenda of the meeting. Much before the hearing in the Ranchi court started, senior leaders like Jagdanand Singh, RJD national vice-president Shivanand Tiwari, former finance minister Abdul Bari Siddiqui, RJD national secretary general Qamar Alam, senior RJD leader Mohammad Tanveer Hasan, RJD state unit president Ram Chandra Purbey and former minister Vijay Prakash reached Circular Road.
After the meeting, Purbey said outside the house: "According to the scheduled date, the meeting will take place tomorrow (Saturday) at 11am the same place. There is no question of postponing the date and it will take place at any cost. There are no ifs and buts irrespective of whatever decision would be taken by the court."
The RJD has called it first major meeting after Lalu has been convicted in one of the fodder scam cases. All MLAs, former MLAs, MPs, former MPs, MLCs, former MLCs, district heads, block heads, spokespersons, state-level and national-level RJD leaders will be present in the meeting.
