Patna, Sept. 1: Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) today charged the Nitish Kumar-led NDA government of lending moral support to anti-social elements, resulting in open threat to the district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Singh and city superintendent of police (SP) (central) Shivdeep Lande.

RJD national general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Kripal Yadav said: “This is the first time in the history of Bihar that a threat call has been given to the DM and SP. The morale of robbers and anti-social elements is so high that they can dare to threat such high-ranking officers.”

Yadav added: “The anti-social elements have become fearless in the regime of Nitish and they think they can give threat calls to high-ranking officers and no action would be taken against them. Nitish claims to maintain law and order in the state but if these high-ranking officers are not safe, then who will be? Now, there is a fear in the common man that he too can be threatened and kidnapped by criminals.”

Citing examples of threat calls to politicians, Yadav said: “Dozens of political leaders have received threat calls in the past two months, including health minister Ashwini Kumar Choubey. Just imagine if ministers are not safe, then what is the guarantee of safety of the common man. The level of corruption and bribery is so high that the administration officials do not take these threat calls seriously, which result in murder or kidnapping.” State unit president Ramchandra Purbey also slammed the state government and said: “The administration has failed in the state where the people assigned to save lives have become inactive resulting in weakening of power. We have so many examples to prove the inactiveness of the district administration like when criminals stole the car of BJP MLA Gangeshwar Singh from his residence in a high-security zone of Patna.”

“The morale of the criminals is so high that they did not even fear stealing the MLA’s car. Let me tell this it is only possible when there is support of the government and the administration. The rate of crime has spiralled in the state and the local administration is also playing a significant role in it,” said Purbey.

The RJD leader also said Lalu Prasad will visit Forbesganj on September 5 to hold a protest rally against the police firing which left five people dead including a pregnant woman.
