Revellers head for greens on New Year

Patna, Jan. 1: City parks were brimming with revellers today with people venturing out with their family members, friends and relatives to soak in the spirit of the New Year’s Day.

Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park

First choice of Patnaites, 25,000 people visitors till afternoon. Nikhil Dubey, a visitor, said: “This place is ideal for my family and me because apart from celebrating the new year, we get the opportunity to see the animals, One can play badminton or eat inside the park from the canteen.” Zoo director Abhay Kumar said: “We deployed 150 security guards across the zoo to cope with the rush.”

Rajdhani Vatika Park

Officially opened today for the general public near the old secretariat. People made a beeline for it, attracted by the designs at the theme-based park. People enjoyed plant species selected as mentioned in religious scriptures like the Puranas. Many found every nakshatra having its own tree interesting. Pravin Kumar Yadav, a visitor, said: “When we heard about this park we decided to celebrate New Year’s Day over here. It is very spacious and having a special park for every religion is adding to the fun.”

Revellers visited in large numbers to celebrate New Year’s Day. Being situated far from the city, the park provided a convenient place for people residing in Kankerbagh, Rajendra Nagar and Kadamkuan.

Kidwaipuri Park

Another haunt of New Year’s Day revellers, the place was brimming on Saturday.
