Two children, covered up in woollens, on their way to school wait on Bhootnath Road in Kankerbagh around 7.50 on a foggy Wednesday morning. The minimum temperature plummeted to 5.5°C, four notches below normal. Though the fog cover was shallow compared to Tuesday’s, motorists had to put on the headlights or fog lights of their vehicles early in the morning. The condition continued till 9am. The sun came out only around 10am. Weathermen predicted shallow fog over the capital for Thursday too. “The westerly winds are lifting the high moisture content in the lower level of the atmosphere at a rapid speed. Clear skies are expected only from Friday. The minimum and maximum temperatures are also expected to normalise by Saturday, making for comfortable weather,” said Ashish Sen, director, India Meteorological Department, Patna.
