Patna, Sept. 1: The first meeting of the managing committee of the Centre for Good Governance was today held under the chairmanship of its newly appointed director-general, Navin Kumar.

After retiring from the post of chief secretary, Kumar had yesterday taken took over charge as the first director-general of the think tank that would set out the blueprint for governance reform.

The meeting deliberated upon the future outline of the functioning of the centre at its office located at Lalit Bhavan on the Bailey Road. It was decided at the meeting to open a bank account of the centre, sources said.

The delegates of GTAST, an international agency engaged in administrative reforms, participated in the meeting, which was attended by deputy director (general administration department) Bimlesh Kumar Jha and deputy director (finance) Varindra Kumar.

The state government had in November last year decided to set up the centre for good governance as part of its Bihar administrative reforms programme to strengthen the administrative machinery for its smooth functioning.

The centre would function under the general administration department as its registered body.

The centre’s policy would be driven by a governing council, which will be chaired by the chief minister and will have as members, among others, deputy chief minister, chief secretary and the development commissioner.
