Enthusiasts with a taste for movies would be in for a treat on Saturday.

An animation and visual effects institute in the city will screen winning movies from previous entries to the India Film Project.

Started in 2011 as the Ahmedabad Film Project, the plat- form lets filmmakers work on a theme in 50 hours. In previous years, the judges have included Tigmanshu Dhulia, Shoojit Sircar and Nikhil Advani.

Mugdha Singh, head of business development, Frameboxx Animation and Visual Effects, the institute that will screen the films on Saturday, said Shyam Benegal would be one of the judges this year.

She added: “India Film Project started in 2011 but this is the first time Patna will organise the daylong screening.”

Six to seven films would be screened from among the winning entries of 2011, 2012 and 2013.

Later, cine buffs eager to get a taste of the real, errr… reel world can register for the All India Filmmaking Competition.

Mugdha said: “India Film Project is an online and on-ground platform for participants to make a film and fulfil their passion. They would have to look for the most appropriate location after writing a script and select actors and finalise editing and music.”

On September 12, the India Film Project for 2014 would kick off on-ground and over webcast. Participants would be given the theme five minutes before the start after which they would get 50 hours — till 10pm on September 14 — to complete their films.

Certificates of participation will be given out apart from awards for the “platinum film of the year” and others.
