The Centre awarded Bihar Public Grievance Redressal System on Monday for keeping a track on public grievance applications received by the chief minister’s secretariat.

Bihar received the “Silver Icon” under the public participation initiative category at the Web Ratna Awards, 2012, at a function in New Delhi. Union minister for communication and information technology Kapil Sibal gave away the award to secretary, public grievances, S. Siddharth who represented the government at the event.

The Bihar Public Grievance Redressal System allows uploading of applications on a dedicated website — www.bpgrs.in — that are received by the chief minister’s secretariat after going through different channels. The redressal system allows officials concerned to monitor the applications received at the website and they are reminded about the quick disposal of complaints.

The progress on the applications is directly monitored at the level of CM’s secretariat. Till March 1 this year, 2,62,460 grievance applications had been uploaded through the system.

The department of electronics and information technology under the communications and information technology ministry and National Informatics Centre had jointly organised the award ceremony.
