Patna, Oct. 15: The Jhajha Government Railway Police nabbed four hardened members of the CPI(Maoist) from Teliadih village in Jamui district late on Friday night.
Superintendent of Railway Police (SRP) Anand Prakash Srivastava said acting on a tip-off, a police team conducted a raid at the suspected hideouts of the Maoists and arrested four active members.
He said that an activist of the banned outfit was arrested from Banka district a few days ago and a rifle looted earlier from the police was recovered from his possession.
On the basis of clues provided by him, raids were carried out at Teliadih village, leading to the arrest of the four rebels, the SRP said.
The arrested Maoists have been involved in a number of attacks. In 2005, they had attacked a train between Jhajha and Jamui stations and killed a jawan of Government Railway Police and injured another, Srivastava said, adding that they had also looted a rifle from the jawans.
The SRP said the rebels were being interrogated and they had confessed to their involvement in the killing of the GRP jawan and looting of police rifles at Narganjo railway station under Jhajha police station. Two other policemen were injured in the attack carried out by the Maoists in 2005, the SRP said.
The SRP said the arrested Maoists have been identified as Anil Kumar, Fago Ravidas, Raghuvir Ravidas and Anil Ravidas. The SRP said an intensive search operation has been launched in the area to apprehend other active members of the banned outfit. “The arrested persons have disclosed the names of their associates,” he said.
Srivastava said that he has sought the help of the district police in nabbing the rebels, who have been targeting railway property on one pretext or the other.
