Gaya, Jan. 2 (PTI): A personnel of the Bihar Military Police used his service firearm to shoot himself at the battalion’s base camp at Bodhgaya yesterday, officials said.

The deceased was identified as Satish Kumar Bishwakarma, a personnel of the Bihar Military Police who was on duty at the 3 battalion camp of the Bihar Military Police. Bishwakarma died immediately after he shot himself in his chest, the superintendent of police, Daljit Singh, said.

What led the Bishwakarma, a resident of Nawada district, to take the drastic step was not known till reports last came in.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident.
