Identify the good: In the film, the two male leads are segregated as good and bad. However, at the end the duo come out with new identities. |
Police seem to have taken a leaf out of Emraan Hashmi-starrer Good Boy, Bad Boy to “guide” young girls in choosing a “boyfriend”.
The cops decided to take the initiative after its women’s helpline number was flooded with calls from harried young girls complaining against their boyfriends. Most of the complainants claimed that they were being harassed by their boyfriends.
According to a directive from city superintendent of police Kim, the women cops of the helpline service would visit schools and colleges within a week to conduct awareness programmes on the dos and don’ts of a relationship.
“The women’s cell gets frequent complaints from girls on boyfriends making their life miserable. The girls often say that after being with their partners for long, they come to know from other sources that the person is not good. The girls then want to get rid of them. The boys, on the other hand, don’t want the break-up and start threatening the girls,” a woman cop at the helpline service told The Telegraph.
“Also, we come across cases where a boy refuses to marry after dating a girl for years. After we received such complaints, we felt that there should be some kind of awareness drive for girls,” the officer added.
On asking what tips would be given to girls, another officer said: “Girls should share information with their parents and friends about the company they are in. It is the best way to stay safe. Though the intricate details of the campaign are yet to be decided, teachers and parents might also be involved in the programme. The police want to assert the fact that having male friends is not bad. But the girls should be careful. The campaign will be more of an eye-opener than an embarrassment for the girls.”
The challenge for the cops would be to define the good and the bad, as portrayed in Hashmi’s rom-com. In Good Boy, Bad Boy, the identity cards of two boys changed in their institution and landed up in wrong sections. The so-called good one landed in the bad boys’ section and vice versa. The bad boy was not good in studies and goodie-goodie one was poor in extra-curricular activities. The principal in the cinema, aware of the development, proposed the name of the bad boy for a quiz contest and that of the good boy for dance competition. Then, it was up to the duo to prove their mettle in the competitions they participated in.
