Six men who robbed 14kg of gold from the office of a finance company in Ara on Tuesday afternoon are still evading arrest.

Bhojpur superintendent of police Akhtar Hussain said the gang had taken away the hard disk of the CCTV camera installed in the office so that they could not be traced or recognised.

The cops, who are yet to make any breakthrough even after 24 hours of the daring heist, said the men did not make any entry in the office register and tracking them now was proving to be difficult.

'Till 3.30pm on Tuesday, when the incident took place, there are a total of eight entries in the register. The police have called up four among them so far and they have been also made to appear before the office staff,' he said.

Six armed men had entered the office of Manappuram Finance Limited in Ara town of Bhojpur district around 3.30pm and decamped with 14kg of gold ornaments and Rs 1.5 lakh in cash after overpowering the employees. The six men, who were not masked, had entered the office in pairs and left the office after the loot within 10 minutes.

'They are professionals, the planning was perfect and they have not left any clues. They might very well try to sell the ornaments slowly and the police hope to get a tip off if they try it,' he added.

Shahabad range DIG Umashankar Suhanshu on Wednesday visited Ara to take stock of the investigation. 'It seems lack of attention of officials on the security measures at the financial company that resulted in such a big incident,' he said.
