Patna, July 3: Cut up with the dilly-dallying approach of Patna Municipal Corporation (PMC) towards clearing its dues, A2Z Infrastructure Ltd has threatened to suspend its garbage disposal service in the city from tomorrow.

The civic body owes over Rs 7.5 crore to A2Z Infrastructure Ltd, the private company hired by it for carting away waste from nine wards and stretches of nine streets. Despite rendering the service for 17 months, the company has not received a penny from PMC.

The company on Saturday sent a letter to the PMC commissioner about its plan to stop work from tomorrow. The firm sent copies of the letter to the chief minister, his deputy and the state urban development department also.

Vikas Jha, the deputy general manager of A2Z Infrastructure Ltd, told The Telegraph: “Now we are not in a position to pay even the sanitation workers. Ministers and the government officers had asked the PMC officials to clear our dues, but in vain. The civic body officials are delaying the payment for no reason. We will not resume work till at least 75 per cent of our dues are cleared.”

Jha said: “Every time we meet the PMC officials regarding the payment, they tell us that it would be done in the ‘next week’. But that ‘next week’ has not arrived yet.”

PMC officials said the payment to the firm was delayed because of lack of agreement between A2Z and the corporation. “We had met a group of company representatives recently. The commissioner asked them to send the monthly bills for verification but the representatives of the firm were adamant that 75 per cent should be paid instantly and the rest could be paid after verification. We could not come to an agreement over the issue. The discussion over matter was deferred,” Chandrama Singh, the additional PMC commissioner (planning and development), said.
