Patna, March 24: Patna senior superintendent of police (SSP) Alok Kumar was promoted to the rank of deputy inspector-general of Saran district today in a major reshuffle of senior police officers.
Alok Kumar was among 58 senior police officers, who were transferred by the state government. Amrit Raj, who was posted as Siwan superintendent of police (SP) has been appointed as the new SSP of Patna. Jehanabad SP Chandrika Prasad would be the new Traffic SP of the state capital.
Saran DIG Sunil Kumar has been made DIG, central range (Patna), whose post was vacant for over two months after Vineet Vinayak was sent to his parent cadre Sikkim. Even though the Patna SSP has been promoted, he has been transferred out of the state capital.
The government also shifted three additional director-generals of police and 39 SP rank officers. One IG rank officer and six DIGs were promoted to additional director-general (ADG) and inspector general (IG) ranks respectively. A.C. Verma, ADG, Bihar Military Police, has been shifted as ADG (training) while A.S. Nimbran, ADG, Special Branch, has been transferred to criminal investigation department in the same capacity. ADG (special vigilance unit) A.K. Upadhyay has been made ADG of the BMP.
Kumar Rajesh Chandra, who was posted as IG (operation) at the state police headquarters, has been promoted to ADG rank and asked to take up the new assignment in Special Branch. IG (CID) R.S. Bhatti will be the new IG of special vigilance unit. Tirhut range DIG B.S. Meena has been transferred to Purnea while Purnea DIG Amit Kumar has been promoted to IG rank and posted as IG (operation). Kosi range DIG Paresh Saxena has been promoted to IG rank and posted in Special Branch.
