AN Sinha Institute of Social Studies, Patna in collaboration with Indiana University, USA, organised an international conference on the theme - Struggles of Black Americans in the US and Dalits in India.

The objective of the event was to present a comparative study on the social exclusion and racial discrimination, practised against the Dalits and the African-Americans. The need to find a solution to the issue was discussed in the event.

Uday Narayan Chaudhary, the Assembly Speaker, stressed upon the prevalent social discrimination in the Indian society. He said the discrimination was extending to political, economic and cultural fields

Kevin Brown, a professor of the Indiana University said: "There has to be widespread awareness among the mass to publicise the struggles of the blacks and the dalits."?

"We must raise the issue of caste discrimination in India at the international stage in order to fight such ill practices," said the director of the Centre for Exclusive and Inclusive Policy, Hyderabad, Kancha Illaiah
