Clean-up drive
Alkem Chronic, a business unit of Alkem Laboratories Limited, with the support of the Indian Medical Association, organised a mass cleanliness drive to spread the message, "A clean India will deliver a healthy India", at Indira Gandhi Institute of Medical Sciences (IGIMS) on Saturday.
A large number of people were seen cleaning the premises of IGIMS and displaying placards.
B.P. Singh, a doctor with the cardiology department, said: "Due to the increasing air pollution in Patna, there has been a rise in cardiac and respiratory ailments. People should know that air pollution can have more dangerous effects than smoking."?
Another doctor, Om Kumar from the nephrology department said more than 50 per cent diseases can be eliminated if the surroundings are kept clean.
Kilkari summer camp
Kilkari Bihar Bal Bhavan today started with its summer camp for children between eight and 16 years. Authorities at Kilkari said the summer camp would continue until June 14, from 7.30am to 5pm everyday.
Today's programme started with a rain dance with Sridhar C., a senior official at Bal Shiksha Pariyojna, who was the chief guest.
Till now, 3,500 children have enrolled for the camp and the number is expected to increase.
"There is something for every kid. They can choose from a wide range of activities like sports, science, dance and drama, painting and music," director of Kilkari, Jyoti Parihar said.
