Patna, Jan. 16: A fact-finding team constituted by the Patna University to probe into the alleged ragging case of Rupam, a student of Patna Women’s College, is likely to submit its report on Monday.

The six-member fact-finding team is headed by varsity pro-vice-chancellor S.I. Ahson and its other members are PU Proctor Sarbendu Kumar, dean Students’ Welfare, P.K. Poddar, PMCH doctor and Patna University syndicate member Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, political science teacher from Magadh Mahila College Pushpalata Kumari and retired teacher Karteshwar Prasad.

Sources said that the report, which will be submitted to the vice-chancellor, has given a clean chit to Patna Women’s College, stating that the incident was not related to ragging as Rupam had protested against things she did not like at the college hostel.

According to sources, the report says that Rupam had not mentioned anything about ragging but expressed her dislike for the food she was served and was forced to eat.

Moreover, there is no signature of Rupam in the FIR lodged at the Kotwali police station. The FIR was lodged by Rupam’s brother who had alleged that Patna Women’s College authorities had indulged in ragging, said sources.

The report was prepared earlier but it could not be submitted as the members of the team had not visited the site (canteen of Patna Women’s College) for collecting evidence.

Moreover, Patna Women’s College had asked a few teachers to appear before the committee members but the panel wanted to question more teachers and students.

Rajiv Ranjan Prasad, member of the committee, said: “The report was delayed as the committee had not visited the canteen of Patna Women’s College.”

The incident surfaced in September when Rupam first alleged that she was ragged by her seniors at the college canteen.
