Patna, Sept. 30: Australia wants to work with Bihar for the betterment of the state in several sectors, said Chiara Porro, third secretary (Economic) of Australian High Commission, today.
Porro, along with other officials of the commission, is on a three-day visit to Bihar. She was speaking at an interactive session with the officials of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Bihar state council today.
Sources said the Australian delegation is visiting the state to understand Bihar’s economic progress in the past few years and to identify potent areas such as industry, manufacturing, education agriculture, where development activities can be sustained on a long-term basis.
While interacting with the CII officials, Porro appreciated the state’s economic development in the past few years.
“The development of Bihar has been acknowledged even outside India. Australia will like to work with Bihar in the fields of agriculture and education among others. We can offer our expertise to the state’s small and medium enterprises,” Porro said.
On her visit to Nalanda, Porro said: “Australia is looking for skilled and semi-skilled persons, especially in education, tourism and mining sectors and are also looking forward to partner with some of the educational institutes in the state.”
CII Bihar head Archan Deb attended today’s meeting and also members like Prabhat Ranjan.
Even the CII officials laid emphasis on the progress of the state in the past few years and how the administration brought back things on track.
Besides CII members, personalities from educational institutions, including, Amitabh Ghosh, the registrar of Aryabhatt Knowledge University, Patna, Manoj Sinha of National Human Resource Development, Rajesh of Bihar Agricultural Management & Extension Training Institute, and former vice-chancellor of Rajendra Agriculture University, Pusa, also took part in the interactive session.
