Patna: The state cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod to the expenditure of Rs 1,686 crore for the sewerage networks and sewage treatment plants in Patna, Hajipur, Begusarai and Munger as part of the Centre-sponsored Namami Gange project to clean, conserve and rejuvenate the Ganga.
"The cabinet approved the expenditure of Rs 836 crore on establishing sewerage network and sewage treatment plants in Digha zone in Patna, Rs 312 crore in Hajipur, Rs 237 crore in Begusarai and Rs 301 crore in Munger," principal secretary, cabinet secretariat, Arun Kumar Singh said.
Singh added that sewerage network and sewage treatment plant plans for Kankarbagh zone in Patna and Bhagalpur city were revised slightly and approved by the cabinet.
The cabinet discussed and approved 21 agendas at Tuesday's meeting. The important ones included the approval to release Rs 103 crore for expenditure under the entrepreneurship scheme started by the industries department for youths belonging to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes during 2018-19.
The cabinet also gave its nod to a proposal by the home department to create 5,244 posts of sub-inspectors and 2,603 posts of assistant sub-inspectors to constitute separate law and order, as well as investigation branches at all police stations across Bihar.
The police officials engaged in law and order, and investigation work will not be mixed. They will work within the branches they are posted in.
In addition, the cabinet also approved the government's plan to create 740 posts of police officials and personnel to constitute 74 cyber crime and social media units across Bihar. Altogether, 10 police officials will be posted at each unit. The new posts will include, 74 inspectors, 74 programmers, 222 sub-inspectors, 222 constables (data assistants) and 148 constables (general).
Altogether, 534 posts of office assistants have also been constituted to provide tatkal service under the Bihar Right To Public Service Act. Approval was also accorded to constitute various posts for the "special purpose vehicle (SPV) company" created to implement the Centre-sponsored Smart City Mission in Patna, Bhagalpur and Muzaffarpur.
