Patna, March 30: The three-day annual tech fest of National Institute of Technology, Corona, will begin on April 7.
The theme of this year’s fest is “save dolphins”.
A number of programmes would be organised as a part of the festival. A number of guest lecturers and a whole range of events have been planned for the fest.
One of the biggest tech fests in the city, Corona encompasses the vistas of opportunities to bring out the best from the students.
The tech fest would also feature an interactive session by R.K. Sinha, the dolphin man who has been known for his exemplary research work on Gangetic dolphins. Gyanesh Pandey, an eminent scientist would also be a part of the interactive session.
Irfan Alam, the rickshaw man of India will enlighten the participants over various inventions. Researchers, technocrats and the most creative brains across the country will assemble on a single platform to witness the technological advancements.
Students co-ordinator of Corona 11, Ujjawal Kumar said the tech fest will open the doors of learning for students as students can gather information right from dolphins to new innovative ideas of Alam.
Kumar said: “Recently when the World Bank chief visited Patna, he met dolphin man and had a discussion over various issues. Sinha played a major role in getting dolphins a status.”
He said: “Moreover, the works of the dolphin man has also been appreciated internationally. Recently, when World Bank chief visited Patna R.K. Sinha apprised its president and the environment minister, Jairam Ramesh about the importance of the dolphins for the river and the various sources of pollution and steps needed for their conservation. According to an estimate, the Ganga is left with 2,000 dolphins against lakhs, a few decades ago. Dolphin is among the endangered species, for the conservation of which the state government too has launched awareness programmes.”
Kumar said: “The work of Irfan Alam is widely appreciated as even US president Barrack Obama had appreciated his work. It will be a great opportunity for students to have a first-hand experience of listening to the scientist.”
Various departments of NIT would present robots designed by them, as a part of the robotics competition. “Discussions would be held on various issues including ethical hacking and information security to autonomous robotics to water rocketry,” Kumar said.
Various institutes of the country would take part at the competitions at the fest.
