Jab at hawala traders

Patna: Former Union minister and Janata Party leader Subramanian Swamy on Wednesday alleged that hawala traders of the country had links with ISI, “which is why ministers and leaders dither in taking action against Pakistan as they fear that country’s government would expose them in such a case”.wamy expressed these views while addressing a protest programme organised by “Youth Against Corruption” in the state capital.

Dharna

Patna: Members of All India Students’ Federation staged a dharna on Wednesday demanding action from the government to control the increasing rent of private houses. The protesting members threatened to launch a more aggressive movement if their demands were not met.

Agreement

Patna: Unicef and Chanakya National Law University (CNLU) entered into an agreement on Wednesday to work towards developing an improved legal framework for children in Bihar. Under the agreement, CNLU will undertake comprehensive review of various legislations that focus on children.

Revenue

Motihari: East Champaran district transport office has collected more revenue than any other district in the state. It has collected total Rs 5,44,25,547 in the past seven months against the target of Rs 4.48 crore.

Murder

Patna: A 50-year-old man was shot dead at Kumhrar Toli area late on Tuesday night. The deceased has been identified as Rajendra Kumar, a painter. One Rameshwar Yadav has been arrested for the crime, which, police said could have been a fallout of a land dispute.

Cop help

Patna: A couple approached Patna city superintendent of police (east) Kim for help stating their families were troubling them because they had married secretly.

Raid arrest

Patna: A shop at the Kazipur area was raided and one person was arrested for refilling LPG cylinders illegally. Twelve cylinders have been recovered from the place.
