Rural honour for DM

Patna, Jan. 28: Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would honour Nalanda district magistrate (DM) Sanjay Kumar Agarwal on February 2 at Delhi Vigyan Bhavan for the latter’s outstanding work in the field of rural development, especially in implementation of Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MNREGA).he award, which was instituted four years ago, is given to six DMs for outstanding implementation of MNREGA and other rural development schemes every year.

Seminar

Patna: Deputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi would attend a three-day international seminar at Free Town, the capital of Sierra Leone, from January 30.

Mowed down

Sasaram (PTI): A woman and her five-year-old son were run over by a train at Dehri-on-Sone railway station in Rohtas on Saturday morning, railway sources said.

Bank branch

Patna: Bank of Baroda on Saturday opened a new branch in Jamui. The branch was inaugurated by district magistrate Mayank Barbade.

SBI mela

Patna: State bank of India will organise a two-day ‘Basant Rinn Utsav’ car and housing loan mela at SBI Main branch campus near Gandhi Maidan from Monday.

Fair

Patna: Mahila Kalyan Sangathan of Bihar State Electricity Board would organise a five-day ‘Mahila Udyog Mela’ in association with Women’s Industries Association from February 16.

Meeting

Patna: A meeting of Patna University teachers was held on the university premises on Saturday in which they condemned the inquiry committee constituted to probe alleged irregularities against vice-chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh and others, Khagendra Kumar, convener of the meeting, said.

Free camp

Patna: A free check up camp was organised by Public Awareness for Healthful Approach for Living (Pahal) for lungs and diabetes tests on Exhibition Road. he camp was organised at clinic of Dr Diwaker Tejaswi who is the director of PAHAL. About 100 patients were checked up for free.
