Body found in bag

Patna: Beur police on Wednesday found the body of a young woman stuffed in a bag that was thrown by the roadside.

The police said the woman was aged between 25 and 30 and was wearing a red salwaar suit. Her hands were tied and the body was put in the bag. The police are yet to identify the woman.

Tiger cubs

Patna: A tigress, along with her two newly born cubs, was sighted at Mangu Raha Range of Valmiki Tiger Reserve in West Champaran on Wednesday.

Accident

Patna: A truck crushed a 26-year-old resident of the Digha area on Wednesday morning. The man was identified as Mohammed Vakil.

Appointment

Patna: Patna University vice-chancellor Shambhu Nath Singh has been appointed the visitor’s nominee of Maulana Azad National Urdu University, Hyderabad followinga Rashtrapati Bhavan notification. The visitor’s nominees represent the President of India and they play a crucial role in the selection of faculty in the university concerned.

Mishap

Darbhanga: Twenty-four passengers were injured when a bus overtur-ned near Panisala Chowk under Singhwara police station on Wednesday.

Patna: Bihar State Examination Board has started its helpline numbers for those appearing for the Teacher Eligibility Test to be conducted on February 17 and 18. Applicants can call at eight numbers, including 980911427 and 9801911806.

Highway       

Mumbai (PTI): Construction firm Patel Engineering on Wednesday said it had bagged Rs 233.98 crore order from the Bihar government for upgrading a 86.8-km highway.

Student party

Patna: Students of masters in finance control of Patna University organised a fresher-cum-farewell party. The department is run by the department of applied economics and commerce.

Raid

Madhubani: Over 2,000 of bags of fake cement were seized in a raid at Ranti and Rajnagar Chowk under Rajnagar police station on Wednesday. The raid was conducted by a police team led by Baboo Ram, the assistant superintendent of police of Jhanjharpur.
