Traffic trouble in city

Patna: Many roads of the capital on Monday faced major traffic snarls bringing lives of daily commuters to a halt. oads near Gandhi Maidan, Dakbungalow Chowk and Income Tax roundabout, Frazer Road, SN Verma Road and Station Road remained choked till evening. Traffic deputy superintendent of police N.M. Jha said with the road from the R-Block towards the station were closed down to resist the movement of many organisations staging dharnas and processions, caused the traffic hiccup.

Murder

Chhapra: Vikas Bharti (25) was murdered after an altercation with an auto driver on Sunday night. Four persons travelling in an auto stopped Vikas as he protested when he was not allowed to overtake the vehicle.

Attack

Chhapra: Criminals tried to stab Hare Lal Yadav, the manager of Eden Bus Service, by dragging him out of a bus. The incident occurred at 6am on Monday. He was, however, saved after the interference of the people of the area. Police have arrested Harendra and others.

Tourism

Patna: The state tourism department would organise several programmes on the occasion of India Tourism Day on Tuesday. People coming to the airport and railway stations would be provided literature about the important tourist destinations in the state.

Evening court

Patna: The Bihar State Bar Council has decided to protest the continuation of evening courts in the state and its members would wear red ribbon on their right arm from January 27 to January 29 as a symbol of protest. The council members had convened a meeting in which they discussed there was no positive response from the chief justice of Patna High Court despite members submitting a written representation and apprising him about the issue.

New trains

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar would flag off the Patna-Sasaram passenger train at Patna junction on Tuesday. Nitish would also flag off the Darbhanga-Lokmanya Tilak Express train using a remote control.
