Undertrial dies in hospital

Motihari: An undertrial died at sadar hospital here late on Saturday night. The death has raised a question mark over the promptness of the jail and hospital administrations here. he undertrial, Ashok Kumar Singh (55), a clerk in a middle school, was imprisoned for nearly six months on charge of murdering his school headmaster. Holding the jail administration responsible for her husband’s death, Singh’s widow said he had become very weak due to malnutrition and could not survive the cold wave.

Spirit seizure

Chhapra: Saran police seized 3,000 litres of spirit being carried in 14 containers from Gopalbadi village under Masrak police station on Saturday night. Marhaurrah DSP Dil Nawaj Ahmad said the seized spirit was worth Rs 3 lakh. One person, Shambhu Singh, has been arrested in this connection.

Maoists held

Patna: Three senior Maoists, including a sub- zonal commander of CPI (Maoist) Ram Chandra Yadav, alias Sidhnath, alias Vikas, were arrested from Dihuri village under Goh police station in Aurangabad district on Sunday.

Appointment

Patna: The board of governors of the Medical Council of India (MCI) has appointed Kumar Brijnandan as its council in Patna High Court. He will represent the MCI in all its in Patna High Court. Having completed his LLB from Campus Law Centre of Delhi University, Kumar Birjnandan initially practised in Delhi High Court as well as in the Supreme Court.
