Court fixes dates

Patna: The high court division bench of Justice Shiva Kirti Singh and Justice Vikash Jain on Tuesday fixed August 13 as the date for regular hearing of a petition filed by Kundan Prasad Singh seeking CBI probe into the alleged killing of his son Rahul Raj in a fake encounter by Mumbai police in October 2008. ingh has challenged the single bench order dismissing his petition saying that the high court had no jurisdiction to entertain the petition.

I-T counters

Patna: Keeping in mind the heavy rush for filing of tax returns during July, the income tax department will operate special counters at Agrasen Bhavan on Bank Road from July 25 to July 31.

Body found

Patna: A middle-aged employee of a shop on Exhibition Road was found hanging from the ceiling of the outlet. Police are suspecting suicide though no note was found.

Price rise

Patna: BJP state president C.P. Thakur on Tuesday condemned the recent petrol price hike and claimed that it was a reflection of the malfunction of the UPA government at the Centre.

Seminar

Patna: An international seminar, South Asian Economic Co-operation, organised by Chandragupt Institute of Management, Patna, was held at the institute on Tuesday.

Appointment

Patna: The state government on Tuesday issued notification appointing RJM Pillai as the new chief information commissioner. He would replace A.K. Choudhary.

Mishap

Patna: The ceiling of the Pirbhore police station caved in on Tuesday. Sources said the cause of the mishap was heavy rain. No casualty was reported.
