Uniform formula to discipline students
New mall in Patna is becoming the centre of attraction for schoolchildren. Quite a few well known schools are located near the mall. During the initial days of its opening, the venue used to be packed with schoolchildren — all dressed up in their uniforms. Suddenly, the children in uniform disappeared. mother told her daughter she will pick her up from school and they will drive straight to the mall. To the mother’s surprise, the daughter said she will have to go back home and change before going to the mall. It was then that the mother learnt of the school’s warning to students — be seen in school uniform at the mall and you will be handed over a transfer certificate the next morning. When this mall was being built, a section of people objected to the location as it was very close to the schools. They declared that the mall would bring in “cultural pollution”. “We did not think the school authorities would hear their opinion on the mall. But they did and played spoilsport,” said the daughter.
Veterinary expert’
Modieputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi was delivering a speech to veterinarians recently. He spoke about dog bites and rabies. The vets, however, were not impressed. “Modiji does not know much about the subject he was speaking on. But I suppose he is a neta and netajis are entitled to speak on subjects they have no idea about,” said a veterinarian. Modi has headed the animal husbandry department for some time and had acquired some knowledge about the department. “Things have been worse. We have had to hear out ministers for long periods on every subject under the sun except what is relevant for the department,” said an official, adding his friends in other departments have similar complaints.
Elitist’ securitymen
At the chief minister’s janata darbar, officials got a “snub” from VVIP securitymen. An official reportedly asked a security personnel to bring a glass of sattu for him. The guard refused to move. “We are here for the chief minister’s security, we do not do such things,” the guard told the official. There is an element of elitism among security personnel posted for Nitish’s security. Unlike other securitymen, they are not supposed to carry the ags of VVIPs they re guarding. he official, however, is not the only one to be snubbed by the chief minister’s securitymen. A police officer posted at the chief minister’s house during Lalu Prasad’s regime, ctually snubbed the RJD chief himself when he was asked to move the curtain. “My job is to stand right next to you and not move curtains,” he had told the chief inister flatly.
Krishna’s new abode
Senior BJP leader, who visited Holland recently, appeared overawed with the milk production in the country. “The dairy industry is so rich there that milk flows like river. Compared to Holland, the milk production in India is nothing. Lord Krishna should have been born in Holland and not India,” he said. Political circles point out that supporters of Lalu Prasad always compared the RJD chief with Lord Krishna. “It took 15 years for the BJP to dislodge the modern Lord Krishna, that too with the help of Nitish Kumar. It is no wonder that they are thinking that their job would have been much easier if Lord Krishna was born in Holland,” remarked a senior politician.
