Funds plea to Centre

Patna: Bihar has urged the Centre to provide six per cent as contingency fund for implementing the projects, which would be taken up for utilising funds given under the MP local area development (MPLAD) scheme. eputy chief minister Sushil Kumar Modi on Thursday said there was no mechanism in place in the districts after abolition of MPLAD in the state and so the Centre should either ensure that the MPLAD scheme is implemented by the central agencies or it should provide contingency fund to the state to get these works executed.

Court hearing

Patna: Patna High Court will hear on May 9 the petitions filed by some of the unsuccessful candidates of preliminary test of 27th Bihar Judicial Services 2009 seeking direction to the Bihar Public Service Commission to publish a fresh result of the aforesaid preliminary examination.

Imprisonment

Siwan: Siwan fast-track court four judge P.C. Chaudhary on Thursday awarded 10 years rigorous imprisonment to one Ram Balak Kamkar on the charge of attempt to murder. According to information, Kamkar along with his accomplices had hurled bomb at Guru Goswami alias Garbhu Gosai on March 31, 1982.

Assault

Gopalganj: Criminals stabbed a shopowner Md Kamran and three others on Thursday after they were allegedly refused SIM cards without photo ID and other documents. Kamran said the assailants were Shabbu Shah and his three accomplices of Ghosh More under Town police station.

Accident

Chhapra: One Sandip Sah (16) died when an autorickshaw turned turtle near Rebelganj police station. The deceased was the cleaner of the auto. Police have sent the corpse for post-mortem and is looking for the driver, who is absconding.

Ex gratia

Patna: The state police headquarters has sanctioned Rs 1 lakh as ex gratia to sub-inspector of police posted as station house officer of Rajepur police station in East Champaran Nawal Kishore Rai and Rs 50,000 to two SAP personnel, who were injured in a landmine explosion trigerred by the Maoists on the border of Muzaffarpur and East Champaran districts recently.
