School holiday extended

Patna: The closure of schools in Patna has been extended by one day to January 11.

'The decision was taken after going through the Met department reports,” said district magistrate Sanjay Kumar Singh, stressing that the order would not affect pre-board exams and non-teaching work in government and primary schools.

Gangster

Patna: Gangster Pradyumna Sharma alias Mantu was brought to Muzaffarpur from Lucknow under tight security arrangements on Wednesday. He would be produced in a Muzaffarpur court on Thursday. Inspector-general (operations) Amit Kumar said Sharma was brought to Muzaffarpur on three-day transit remand.

Lawyer held

Patna: Rajendra Kumar Ranjan, a practising lawyer of Patna High Court, was arrested from Kankerbagh police station in Patna after a stolen motorcycle was recovered from his possession.

Liquor trader

Patna: Mahendra Pandit, a liquor trader, was taken on a two-day police remand for interrogation in connection with the recent hooch tragedy, which claimed 12 lives.
