Bribe cuffs on official

Gaya: State vigilance bureau officials on Thursday caught the block development officer (BDO) of Atri block in Gaya district, Kameshwar Prasad Gupta, while accepting Rs 25,000 as bribe. he vigilance team led by deputy superintendent of police (DSP) Md Jamiruddin acted on the complaint of Atri block pramukh Jag Narayan Singh. The pramukh in his complaint to the vigilance department had alleged that the BDO had demanded bribe for releasing funds for solar lights.

Stay order

Patna: A high court division bench comprising Justice Navin Sinha and Justice Vikash Jain on Thursday stayed any ongoing construction being carried out along any riverbeds in the state. The court passed the direction on a PIL filed by Vinay Kumar Singh through advocate Dhananjay Mishra seeking direction to the authorities concerned to stay the construction work being carried out in the riverbed of Mahi at Sonepur in Sara.

Life term

Chhapra: Fast track court IV judge Indradeo Singh on Thursday awarded life imprisonment to Lalu Thakur and Saroj Sah on the charge of murdering one Ashok Kumar Singh at Hathisar village under Marhaurrah police station in 2009. The judge also slapped a fine of 25,000 on each.

Dal meet

Dumraon: Senior leaders of the JD(U) took part in a party convention on Thursday. Patna: A high court division bench on Thursday directed the state government to reply within four weeks why it could not frame rules as per Clinical Establishment (Registration and Regulation) Act 2010 to regulate and control hospitals, both government and private, nursing homes, private clinics. he court passed the direction on a PIL filed by (retd.) Wing Commander Vishwanath Pratap Singh.

Liquor shop

Patna: A high court division bench on Thursday directed the state government to file its reply within four weeks seeking direction to close the composite liquor shop being run in the vicinity of a government school at Raipur Chor village in Rohtas district by violating excise rules.

Power cut

Patna: There would be a four-hour power cut from 11am on Friday in some colonies of western Patna, including Patliputra industrial area, Kurjee, Rajapur, Mehru Nagar, Gosai Tola, Mainpura, Mandiri, East Boring canal road and Shivajee Nagar, a South Bihar Power Distribution Company Ltd release said.

Gang in net

Patna: Nine members of an inter-state gang involved in four wheeler thefts were arrested on Thursday. The cops said the gang has connections in Uttar Pradesh. Four vehicles, a motorbike and nine mobile phones were recovered from them.

Lawyers strike

Patna: Lawyers of Patna civil court on Thursday went on an indefinite strike to protest the assault of an advocate by some criminals.

Speedy disposal order

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday directed officials concerned to ensure speedy disposal of cases related to the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. e issued the directive while chairing a state-level vigilance and monitoring committee for cases related to SC/ST Atrocities Prevention Act.

Treatment

Patna: A direct observation treatment centre would be inaugurated at Rotary Bhavan on Beer Chand Patel Marg on August 24, announced Rotary Patna secretary K.K. Verma on Thursday.

Patna: Rural works minister Bhim Singh on Thursday directed field officials to complete all works related to the department by December 31.

Agreement

Patna: DexGlobe.Com, an online educational portal run and managed by Dexterity Global, on Thursday signed a memorandum of understanding for a two-year partnership with the Yuvraj Singh Foundation. General manager of the NGO (run by all-rounder Yuvraj Singh) Amit Yadav and DexGlobe founder and CEO Sharad Vivek Sagar signed the MoU.
