Plea for fast trial

Muzaffarpur: Police on Thursday filed a chargesheet against seven persons, including Anil Ojha, who is evading arrest in connection with the murder of JD(U) leader Shamim Khan. olice have prayed the court for conducting speedy trial.

Condolences

Patna: Chief minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday mourned the death of Bihar cadre trainee IAS officer Nishant Kumar in a road accident in Moga, Punjab, on Wednesday. Nishant was a resident of Begusarai district.

Constitution

Patna: Subhash Kashyap, an expert on the Indian Constitution, would deliver the keynote address on “Indian Constitution: inclusive growth and secularism” at a programme being organised to mark the birth anniversary of Sachchidanand Sinha on November 10.

Tagore meet

Patna: Rabindra Parishad has planned a series of events to mark the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore winning the Nobel Prize for Literature. Starting on November 10, the events would feature famous Bangladeshi singer Rezwana Choudhury Bannya performing the songs of the bard.

Tobacco ills

Patna: Sanjay Kumar, secretary, health, on Thursday underlined the important role media had to play to spread awareness about the ill-effects of tobacco consumption. He was speaking at a state-level workshop.

Heat on film

Patna: One Amit Arya on Thursday filed a complaint case in the chief judicial magistrate’s court against Sanjay Leela Bhansali, the director of Ram-Leela, actors Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh, Priyanka Chopra, and producer Kishore Lulla. ccording to the complaint Ram-Leela has nothing to do with the life of lord Ram but is filled with violence, and vulgarity. The complainant has requested the court to restrain the release till the name of the film is changed.

Lecture invite

Patna: Indian School of Business, Hyderabad has invited mathematician Anand Kumar to deliver a lecture at the institution’s leadership summit on November 9.

Letter plan

Patna: Public Mission, a civil society organisation, would write letters to the governor and chief minister requesting them to name the Ganga driveway as Deshratna Path.
