JP home visit

Patna: Union minister Ananth Kumar will visit Sitab Diara, the native place of Jayaprakash Narayan, on his birth anniversary on Wednesday. The BJP said on Tuesday that state unit president Nityanand Rai and road construction minister Nand Kishore Yadav will accompany Ananth on the trip.

Siwan: A gang looted Rs 18,000 from Brajesh Kumar Manjhi, a private bank employee, after shooting at him near Mubarakpur in Siwan district on Tuesday.

Muzaffarpur: A man and his two daughters were crushed to death by a speeding truck near Ahiyapur on the Muzaffarpur-Sitamarhi road on Monday. Murari Singh was going to drop his daughters Nancy (14) and Mansi (12) to a private school.

Patna: Former Union minister Yashwant Sinha will visit Patna on Wednesday to mark the birth anniversary of Jayaprakash Narayan. 'I will visit Charkha Samiti and garland the statue of JP near Gandhi Maidan,' Sinha told The Telegraph on Tuesday.

Minister whip

Patna: Rural development minister Shravan Kumar on Tuesday directed officials to ensure proper and quick implementation of schemes being run by the department. He expressed dissatisfaction at the slow pace of toilet construction in Bihar and asked officials to work towards achieving the goals set.

Agro plan

Patna: Agriculture minister Prem Kumar on Tuesday said a plan had been formulated in the new agriculture roadmap for 2017-22 to promote mechanised agriculture among small- and middle-level farmers.

AIIMS lab

Patna: Dr Ajit Kumar Saxena, head of pathology and lab medicine, AIIMS-Patna, said a flow cytometry lab had been started in the department to conduct DNA analysis, immunologic monitoring of HIV-infected individuals and diagnose cancer among other cases. He was speaking at a workshop on Tuesday.
