HC seeks reply on petition

Patna: Patna High Court has sought a reply within four weeks from the state government on a writ petition filed in connection with the murder of former BJP state vice-president Bishweshwar Ojha in Bhojpur district in February 2016.

The petitioner had sought the court's intervention on the police's reluctance to interrogate RJD MLA from Shahpur and seizure of the weapon used in committing the crime.

Odisha trader

Patna: Manas Ranjan Das, an Odisha businessman who was kidnapped for ransom from Giridih in Jharkhand on August 23, was recovered from Koelwar police station area in Bhojpur district, around 50km west of Patna, on Tuesday. Confirming Ranjan safe recovery, incumbent Bhojpur superintendent of police Avkash Kumar said the police rescued Das following a tip off on Tuesday evening. A Bhojpur police team has left for Giridih as an FIR in connection with his kidnapping was lodged there.

Rape

Patna: Some influential people from Lakshmipur village allegedly kidnapped a 25-year-old married woman from Madhubani, raped her. The woman remains untraced 48 hours after the incident.

Jamui: Internet services have been suspended in Jamui district to prevent spread of inflammatory messages on social media following some tension in the district since midnight on September 30.

Promotion

Patna: The ministry of home affairs has promoted a retired IPS officer, Mansoor Ahmad, to the 2000 batch. Earlier, Ahmad, a Bihar Police Service officer, was allotted the 2001 batch. He had retired from the post of deputy inspector-general on November 30 last year.
