Dalit hostel bail

Patna: The Patna High Court bench of Justice Anjana Prakash on Wednesday granted bail to one Prince Pandey, an accused in the Dalit hostel attack case, which took place on June 1 last year.

Government counsel Raj Ballabh Singh opposed the bail saying Prince was involved in the arson attack on Dalit hostel at Katira in Bhojpur district. Unidentified criminals reportedly attacked the SC and ST hostel in retaliation to the killing of Ranvir Sena chief Brahmeshwar Singh.

Surrender

Patna: Shailendra Mahto and Umesh Mahto, residents of Chai Tola under Kadamkuan police station, on Wednesday surrendered in the chief judicial magistrate court in connection with the murder of Patna College student Rajesh Kumar on March 11. Both the accused were sent to Beur Central jail.

Robbery

Gaya: Five youths on Wednesday looted around Rs 4 lakh from the branch of Madhya Bihar Gramin Bank at Chandi Asthan under the jurisdiction of Amas police station.

Two dead

Patna: Two youths, identified as Lalan Jha and Ganesh Tanti, were shot dead by criminals at Rampur village under the jurisdiction of Tarapur police station in Munger district on Tuesday night.

Graft arrest

Patna: Madhepura district fisheries officer Rajnish Kumar Sinha was arrested on Wednesday after he was accused of demanding bribe for completing work undertaken by Chausa Fisheries Cooperative Committee. Assistant superintendent of police of the district Himanshu Shekhar Trivedi said a complaint was lodged against Sinha by one Shambhu Prasad Singh on Tuesday.

Drugs raid

Siwan: A chemist and his supporters abused drug inspector Jitendra Singh on the premises of primary health centre at Guthani on Tuesday. The protestors also did not spare civil surgeon Chandra Shekhar Kumar.

Loans settled

Patna: The zonal office of Punjab National Bank settled defaulted loans of Rs 2.15 crore at the four-day loan settlement camp, which concluded on Wednesday.
