NCP for Pranab

Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Tariq Anwar today requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept President Pranab Mukherjee's name for a second term as President, as proposed by chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Patna, May 18: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) general secretary Tariq Anwar today requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accept President Pranab Mukherjee's name for a second term as President, as proposed by chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Anwar said: "Then, there would be no need of election." But he added that the Opposition had not forwarded any names so far, while talks are on to arrive at a consensus candidate."

Addressing the media at the state party office here, the NCP leader said: "The Centre is trying to suppress the voice of the Opposition by implicating their members in false cases."
