Patna, Dec. 19: A cousin of RJD MP Ramkripal Yadav was found hanging today at his Goreatoli residence under Kotwali police station.
The deceased, 23-year-old Neeraj Yadav, used to stay with his family in their two-storeyed residence, the police said. Sources said Neeraj, a graduate from a Chhapra-based college, was trying to set up a business.
“The police were informed about the incident around 6am today. When the cops reached the residence, they found that the family members had brought down the body. It was later sent for post-mortem. The family members claimed that Neeraj had committed suicide. The cops have not found any suicide note, though,” a police officer at Kotwali police station said.
Neeraj’s father Jeetendra Yadav works in the Vidhan Parishad.
“According to details given by the family, Neeraj’s elder brother knocked on his bedroom door on the second floor today morning. After repeated knocks, the door was forcibly opened and the family members saw his body hanging from the ceiling fan,” the officer added.
“The post-mortem report is awaited. The police will be talking to the family members of Neeraj to get clues ,” another police officer said.
Ramkripal was not available for comment. Food and civil supplies minister Shyam Rajak visited the family after hearing about the incident.
The family members of Neeraj were not ready to speak. “We don’t want to say anything about this,” one of them said.
