Patna: Deputy chief minister and senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Sunday hinted that he would soon make more revelations about the assets acquired by the family of jailed RJD chief Lalu Prasad.
Modi's hint came at an event organised by the Rashtrawadi Kushwaha Parishad as part of the birth anniversary celebrations of Mauryan emperor Asoka.
"Just one round of revelations has been completed. I will soon make more revelations," Modi said, attacking his predecessor and Lalu's younger son Tejashwi Prasad Yadav over corruption.
"Lalu didn't spare even a company like Tata and took possession of its property," Modi said, adding that he would soon share details.
For more than four months since April 2017, Modi hadmade a series of revelations against the family members of Lalu.
Some of the revelations had a visible impact on the family, as the upcoming mall project in Patna, in which one of the companies of the family had stakes, was stalled.
A fuel station licence owned by the family's company was cancelled and property belonging to a company in which Lalu's family members had stakes was seized in Delhi.
The CBI also lodged an FIR in connection with the "land-for-hotel" deal during lalu's tenure as railway minister, in which Tejashwi was made an accused, triggering the fall of the Grand Alliance.
Calling Modi's latest allegations baseless, the RJD said the deputy chief minister's assertion was a desperate attempt to seek relevance in Bihar politics.
RJD Rajya Sabha member and the party's national spokesperson Manoj Jha told The Telegraph on Sunday: "Mr Sushil Kumar Modi is probably one of the rarest politicians who can stoop to new lows daily. He had made great noise on IRCT railway tender but he should pay heed to the report published in an English daily where it was stated that the CBI's legal wing found no merit in the case. We have earlier said that Mr Modi's repeated but baseless allegations against Lalu ji and his family is a desperate attempt to seek a little relevance in Bihar politics, where he has none whatsoever."
