Senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi on Friday demanded fresh polls in order to bring political stability in the state.
"It would have been better if fresh elections were held in the state to give political stability in the state. If Nitish Kumar becomes the chief minister, he would remain in the post for just six months to run an instable government. Nitish should take fresh mandate as he had promised while relinquishing his post eight months ago," Modi told reporters.
Echoing BJP state president Mangal Pandey's views, Modi said it would be a weak government. "In the Congress' days, the state had seven to eight chief ministers in a decade (1980 to 1990) and now again, the state is witnessing the same unstable political situation. The state has witnessed three chief ministers so far in 20 months," he said.
The entire script - according to which Manjhi, a Mahadalit, was eulogised and anointed the chief minister first and then insulted and forced to quit from the - was written by Nitish," Modi said.
Senior BJP leaders Nand Kishore Yadav, Sanjay Mayukh, Binod Narayan Jha and others were present.
Speaking on the seating arrangement in the Assembly, the former deputy chief minister said there was no mention of seating arrangement for the chief minister and ministers in the order paper (issued by the Speaker's office).
Modi claimed that had there been "secret voting" during the trust vote, Manjhi would have proved his majority in the Assembly.
"Several legislators called me saying that they were ready to vote for Manjhi but they feared that their membership could be terminated if they (MLAs) voted against the party whip during the trust vote," Modi said. ?
On the BJP's take on Manjhi's future plan, Modi said: Let us see what his (Manjhi) actions would be and what future has in store. Our priority is to stand with Dalits, oppressed and poor people of the state and that's what we did today."
