Patna: The post-mortem report of Dipak Mandal, elder son of former minister and JDU MLA Bima Bharti, does not indicate any assault or strangulation, Patna rail superintendent of police (SP) Ashok Kumar Singh said.

"It mentions death due to shock and haemorrhage and complications arising out of injuries to head and thigh," the SP said. "There were no external injuries to vital parts of his body such as chest, stomach and forehead. The report indicates death due to collision with a train, but it is still not clear whether Dipak collided with the train himself or was pushed by someone else."

Dipak's post-mortem was conducted under the supervision of the PMCH medical board. A special investigation team constituted by Patna rail police to probe his death, too, submitted its report to the SP.

The team visited Bima's Bhitta village in Purnea district and collected call detail records (CDR) and location of five people whom Dipak's father Awadesh Mandal had accused of hatching a conspiracy. The railway police will find out if any call was made from Purnea to Dipak's friends. Of three friends of Dipak, Mritunjay is from Purnea district.

Bima's teenaged son Dipak's body was found near the railway track at Rajendra Nagar station, opposite Nalanda Medical College and Hospital on Friday.

According to the SP, the post-mortem report also does not mention traces of alcohol in his stomach. On the night of the incident, Dipak had taken rice and dal. The police had found two empty bottles from an open space adjacent to the lodge in Bahadurpur where Dipak and his friends were on Thursday night.

Early on Friday, Dipak and three friends, Hrithik Roshan, Mritunjay and Vikash, stepped out for a smoke. But CCTV footage from Bahadurpur area shows only three persons returning. Based on the footage, the police arrested Hrithik, Mritunjay and Vikash. The police are investigating the case as the friends keep changing their statements.
