Chocolates, a comfort food for most people, often spell discomfort once you get down to counting the calories. A young entrepreneur from Patna has devised a way to satiate your sweet tooth without disturbing your diet regime.
Abha Gupta, 23, is helping calorie-conscious people savour customised handmade chocolates, which are guaranteed high on taste and low on calories.
Abha’s love affair with chocolates took off as a professional venture when she started her business under the banner of AG Creations last October. The demand for the handmade delights is bringing in orders for her.
Abha said: “I come from a business family and I was always keen to be my own boss. When it came to decide on the right product, chocolate was a spontaneous choice. I knew how to make some basic chocolates from my mother and I realised that Patna residents hardly got a chance to enjoy quality homemade chocolates. They only had to be content with the limited range of chocolates available in the local stores.”
Abha, who started off with her caramel chocolates, has now branched out to chocolate paan, marzipan, fondants and others.
Abha’s neighbour in Kazipur, Ashmita said: “We have limited options in Patna when it comes to chocolates. If we want something other than the regular chocolates available in the stores, we can only look to Ferrero Rochers. I ordered for a chocolate paan as soon as I came to know of Abha’s chocolate venture,” said Ashmita, Abha’s neighbour.
Abha has also diversified her business taking up designing bouquets and professional gift hampers for corporate events with chocolate as the star ingredient. The bouquets that range from Rs 250 to Rs 5,000.
But Abha is not done yet. She is now treading unexplored regions on the chocolate horizon in Patna. This Raksha Bandhan, she has plans to introduce designer and tattoo chocolates. “Designer chocolates are still a new concept in the city and I plan to introduce chocolates in different flavours and designs, ranging from ribbons, teddy bears, shoes to popular cartoon characters,” said Abha.
She is also looking forward to orders for her chocolates that will be tattooed with edible ink.
