Patna, Jan. 25: Police officials in Bihar have reasons to cheer about — they have been selected for different police medals on Republic Day.
The recommendation for the rewards was sent to the ministry of home affairs (MHA) a bit late, raising doubts over awarding of the medals on the occasion.
According to the state police headquarters, 14 police personnel have been decorated with police medals for meritorious service, while two others with President’s Police Medal for distinguish service and seven with President’s Police Medal for gallantry have been awarded. Additional director-general (headquarters) P.K. Thakur said the office of the director-general of police (DGP) received information about the names of the awardees from MHA today.
According to the list sent to the state police headquarters, Brigu Srinivasan, IG, Patna, Saurabh Kumar, superintendent, Madhubani, S.B. Pandey, deputy superintendent, CID, Kumari Asha Thakur, inspector, vigilance, J.P. Karna, sergeant major, Nalanda, G.K. Mishra, sub-inspector, vigilance, Swapan Kumar Ghosh, sub-inspector, photo section, Patna, Dhaneshwar Oraon, sub-inspector, BMP-14, Patna, M.M. Singh, ASI, anti-Naxalite section, Patna, L.B. Thakur, havildar, BMP-14, B.K. Gupta, sepoy, Special Branch, Patna, Ashok Kumar Singh, sepoy, bomb disposal squad, Patna, Yogendra Kumar Singh, constable, vigilance and Indrajeet Singh, constable, vigilance have been honoured with police medals.
