The five accused in the schoolgirl gangrape case have expressed their wish to marry the victim, police said on Monday.
“All of them expressed the desire to marry the victim during police interrogation before being produced in court. They all want to spend their lives with her and salvage her,” a police officer told The Telegraph on the condition of anonymity, adding that the complete medical report of the victim was still awaited.
The two accused, including the victim’s boyfriend, in the June 14 Rajvanshi Nagar gangrape case, expressed the same desire before being remanded in judicial custody on Monday.
“They seem to be shocked and ashamed about their deed now,” said a police source.
The police, however, gave a confusing version about the sixth alleged tormentor of the teenaged schoolgirl. First, they said all the accused, including the flat owner, were in their custody. But on Monday they announced the name of a sixth accused, a domestic help in the flat. But they neither have his photograph nor any clue about his whereabouts.
Meanwhile, JD(U) MLA from Barh Gyanendra Singh “Gyanu” on Monday lodged an FIR with Shastri Nagar police station against a news website, accusing it of publishing his son’s name as one of accused in the case.
