Patna, Oct. 27: A father would be very happy if a film was made on his son, but not here.
Kundan Prasad Singh, father of Rahul Raj, is protesting against the film based on the encounter of his son. Singh claims the film portrays his son in a negative light.
A special screening of the 332 Mumbai was organised for Singh in Patna on October 26 . After seeing the film, he lodged his protest with writer-director Mahesh Pandey and producer Sangeeth Sivan.
K Sera Sera Productions and Box Office Pvt Ltd are presenting the film.
Singh said: “My son is being project in a negative light. They are depicting him to Ravan.”
He said: “I have protested against the film and will try my best to block its release. Rahul was a very gentle person but the film has projected him as a villain. How can they make such films that are not based on facts?”
Pandey and Sivan, however, expressed different views at a news meet. Pandey said: “The film is not based on the encounter of Rahul Raj. It is about issues related to regionalism and Mumbai. Rahul is a part of the script. We had taken permission from his father before making the film. We arranged for a screening in good faith but now he is opposing it.” Sivan said: “As a father, he has every right to oppose what he does not like about the depiction of his son. But this is a film based on the issue of Indians working outside their state and facing troubles of regionalism. We did not mean to harm anyone.” He said: “The film is a mirror of society and we must accept it. Many youths are being harassed in the name of the soil but how long we are going to tolerate this? It is high time now we must draw line to control such kind activity.”
Newcomer Amritiyan, who is acting as Rahul in the film, said: “My character was really difficult and I had to work very hard to understand it. I can empathise with Rahul’s father but he must be more accepting.”
Pandey said: “I shall not cut any scene. The essence of the film will be affected if we do. We have already been forced to beep words like bhaiya and ghati.”
Rahul Raj went to Mumbai October 28, 2008. He was killed by Mumbai police in Bail Bazar in Kurla by Mumbai police as he allegedly planned to assassinate MNS chief Raj Thakrae. The film is all set to hit the theatres on November 19.
