Aamir PK Khan has set the box office on fire in Patna.

Slotted for 30 shows, the film collected Rs 23,78,350 on its first day compared to Salman Khan's Kick that had collected Rs 23,62,548, which was the highest so far on Day-I in Patna.

However, PK's better collections can also be attributed to the ticket price hike introduced for the Rajkumar Hirani film. The four popular theatres - Mona, Elphinstone, Cinepolis and Regent Fun Cinemas - have increased ticket prices by Rs 20-60.

What attracted the audience most was a Bhojpuri-speaking Aamir and his madcap moves.

'We have seen Aamir speak Awadhi in Lagaan but watching him speak Bhojpuri was something different. With impeccable pronunciation, he has proved that he takes his job seriously. This is the reason why he is called Mr Perfectionist,' said Rajendra Nagar resident Subodh Kumar, after watching PK at Regent Fun Cinemas.

In the first show, most of the audiences were college students and youths, who kept shouting and whistling throughout the film. Also starring Anushka Sharma and Patna boy Sushant Singh Rajput, the audience equally appreciated their acting as they did for Aamir.

' PK getting a good response in Patna was obvious because apart from an Aamir Khan film, it also has a Bihari flavour. We are hoping that the film will break all records. There are so many questions in the minds of the people regarding his character. It is only possible to know when they watch the film. Till then, allow us to make some business,' said Suman Kumar Sinha, the chairman-cum-managing director of Regent Theatre Pvt Ltd.

Those waiting to know what exactly was PK, The Telegraph had published a report on Friday, 'It's okay to be just PK'. Some residents had got it right.

Theatre management also believe that the film will do good business because there is no competition for the next 20 days. 'The next release is that of Arjun Kapoor and Sonakshi Sinha-starrer Tevar on January 9. Before that PK has no competition,' said Abhishek Ranjan, the manager of Cinepolis.
