Chhapra, April 8: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today said he would embark on a tour to the districts of Bihar after April 24 and ask voters what they have achieved and lost (kya paya aur khoya) during the six-and-a-half-year tenure of chief minister Nitish Kumar.

Lalu’s announcement also holds significance after the RJD legislature party yesterday “unanimously” nominated Rabri Devi, Lalu’s wife, a contestant for the April 16 election to the Legislative Council. Lalu had chaired the meeting to get his wife chosen as the party nominee.

The RJD chief said once he is done with the tour, he would frame strategies to fight against the state government. The former chief minister spoke to reporters today at Hariharnath temple at Sonepur, around 55km from the district headquarters.

He alleged that police atrocity has increased and hapless people were left sobbing.

“Fake enrolments in government schools have cropped up. Besides, bicycles are being allotted irrationally. Pensions are not distributed and people are being misguided,” he said.

Lalu said the state government has been exposed and people are feeling cheated. “This government will also meet the same fate like the Mayawati government did in Uttar Pradesh,” he said, adding that poverty has increased and corruption has become all-pervasive. “If this kind of situation prevails, the state is doomed,” he said.

Earlier, after worshipping Baba Hariharnath, goddess Kali and Gauri Shankar at the temple, Lalu said he was reminded of his past when he often used to come to the Shrine.

The temple is located near the area where Sonepur cattle fair is held every year. It is believed that Lord Ram had built the temple when he was on his way to Mithila to marry Sita. Raja Ram Narain, an influential landlord, built the present structure of the temple during the Mughal reign.
