Patna, June 29: RJD chief Lalu Prasad today took a dig at NDA over the differences that have allegedly cropped up between leaders of the JD(U) and BJP.
According to Lalu, the NDA government in Bihar is on the verge of collapse. While interacting with reporters, Lalu said: “It was a love marriage between the JD(U) and the BJP. It is now evident that the alliance will collapse soon. The divorce has not been declared officially but everybody is aware that the relation between the alliance partners has turned bitter and will no longer survive.”
The former chief minister added: “The JD(U) and BJP came close only to destroy me. At present, there should not be any doubt that the alliance has fallen apart. The two parties are the worst I have ever seen. Nitish’s government has only invited problems for the downtrodden people here.”
Lalu’s comment came after the JD(U) decided not to support the BJP presidential candidate P.A. Sangma. However, when asked about Nitish supporting UPA candidate Pranab Mukherjee, Lalu said: “He is the chief minister of the state, he can go anywhere. It’s not my duty to suggest to him anything on the issue.”
On Nitish’s special status demand for the state, Lalu said: “Nitish’s consistent demand to get a special status for Bihar is nothing but skirting from other important issues. The people of the state are facing acute power shortage. Even my house would have been affected had I not stayed near 1, Aney Marg (official residence of the chief minister).”
